Most of your neighbors in a civilian community don’t take six month long business trips in hostile areas. Our Coasties do. But whether an experienced deployer or a first-timer, deployment preparation is necessary to ensure our members and their families are prepared for deployments.
Over the next few weeks and the upcoming months I will be working with the unit leadership to provide you as much information as possible to help with your deployment readiness.
Non-OPSEC information will be add as a blog post with the links also being listed on the right under "Deployment Information"; allowing you ready access to the information.
Additionally, in September (date TBD), we will have a Pre-Deployment Workshop.
Pre-Deployment Workshops are a way for the deploying unit to 'take care of business', if a Coastie is not confident that their spouses and family are cared for and personal affairs are in order, then they will not be fully ready to contribute to the unit and cannot be considered mission ready or reliable. The Pre-Deployment Workshop will provide a wealth of information to our members and their families. You will learn who is in charge and how to find them if you need them, met your ombudsman, network with other families and spouses, hear from guest speakers and learn what you need to get in order before the deployment, and the do’s and don’ts of OPSEC. Remember, this is by no means a complete list of subjects that come up in a Pre-Deployment Workshop. Look for more information and dates to follow.
Until then, let make some personal progress on Deployment Readiness.
The Deployment Readiness Checklists listed below are designed to help service members and their families prepare for deployment.
*Remember, once you collect all of the important documents keep them in a safe location.
