March Madness

Greetings all and I hope this finds you well. We were fortunate to have Chief Dunn visit last week to provide range training to several members. It was nice to have him here and to catch up on all the happenings in Garrison. Thanks Chief for making the long trip and for all your great work.

Congratulations to several of our MLE/FP members for completing the Mobile Training Team with MSST San Francisco. Top Gun honors went to PO Hart followed closely by Chief Dunn – way to go! Several of our members recently completed a port assessment in San Diego with members from the Regional Dive Locker West. This was an excellent opportunity to train our members on underwater port security equipment and to work in conjunction with the dive locker. Great job to everyone involved in the planning and coordination of the port assessment. Your efforts directly contributed towards the enhancement of our overall readiness posture.

Congratulations to the following members who earned the following certifications:

PO Walker – Basic Coxswain
PO Ketchum – Boarding Team Member
FNMK Merseal – Boarding Team Member
PO Rosca – Shallow Water Egress Training Instructor
PO Rosca – Vertical Insertion Fast Rope Master

Each of these members dedicated a significant amount of time completing these certifications. Congratulations on a job well done and thank you for your dedication and hard work.

Congratulations to LCDR (sel) Tim Margita who has been selected as the next Commanding Officer of MSST LA/LB! LCDR (sel) Margita is currently assigned to the Coast Guard Academy and has a great deal of experience in the Deployable Specialized Forces community. We look forward to welcoming him and his family this summer. The Change of Command date is set for 30 July 2010.

Everything continues to go well with the deployment. We are diligently working on plans for our return! As always, thanks for your tremendous support and we look forward to coming home soon. Don't forget about the CPR/AED Training being offered for all dependents this Saturday... see post below. All for now…
