Changes to Post-9/11 GI Bill benefit

Please click the link below for changes to expect in the coming months
in your Post-9/11 GI Bill benefit. PLEASE REMEMBER that the housing
stipend will be pro-rated and based on when you are actually in school
and when the school certifies your attendance. For you, this means two
key things:

1. If school is out for a week during spring break, a month during
winter break, or you are not in class during the summer, you will not
receive the housing stipend for those periods.

2. There is a VA certifying official at each school, and you will
receive payment in accordance with the frequency with which the
certifying official certifies your attendance. In other words, this
may mean that you will not get a monthly "paycheck" if the certifying
official certifies attendance once per semester, once per quarter,
etc...

Here is a summary of upcoming changes:

Additionally, if you are researching schools and want to find out more
info about how the school in which you are interested in works with
the VA (e.g., whether they offer Yellow Ribbon, how frequently they
certify your attendance, etc), you can find the phone number and the
VA certifying official's name by going to
http://inquiry.vba.va.gov/weamspub/buildSearchInstitutionCriteria.do,
clicking on the state, and finding your school.

Contact your ESO for more information.
